Rim progress and romancing melamine

Ok, the inner veneer is glued, finally! I think I did it right this time. I botched the end trimming pretty good, so I'm planning to add a guitar-style end graft soon. There wasn't much glue squeeze out, which makes me a little nervous. Oh well, this just might not be a 100 year banjo. Other progress was made in the infrastructure department. I built this little table for rim work. That will come in handy for gluing the tone ring and rim cap. And I finally beefed up the drill press table with an extra layer of plywood and proper flathead bolts and wing nuts. Also, paste wax. That stuff is awesome. It smells good and really sets off the rust in my bandsaw table. It makes hand planes fly, too.
