Rim construction begins

Enough messing around with design and various other procrastination activities. It's time to build! This picture shows the first layer of birch blocks glued together. The last segment will go in tomorrow after the glue dries and the ring is firm so I can mark and test a perfect fit. With any luck, I didn't mess it up and there's enough wood there for the required inside and outside diameters. There will be two more layers of birch, then veneer and Koa to cap the bottom and Honduran rosewood for a tone ring on top.
