Neck planing
The neck and headstock are now surfaced. The neck was roughly planed last time. Now it's cleaned via a sanding block. I planned to also plane the headstock with the safe-t-planer, but there was no room for error and I just wasn't feeling it, so I ended up clamping it between two boards and going to town with a small sanding block until the block was riding on the boards. A shower is in order.
Here we see the last photo of the neck blank intact before it gets routed for reinforcement and papered over with veneer. It's kind of a shame, but I guess that surface wouldn't make the best fretboard, so we must do it.
I also included a shot of the pencil line hugging the edge of the blank so you can see just how amazing I was that one time. As my father-in-law astutely pointed out, that just means less work removing waste later!
